BVA Forum – Re-enfranchisement and Universal Voting
April 17 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Brooklyn Voters Alliance and Brooklyn Law School, along with local partners, will host an educational forum on the restoration of voting rights for people on parole and universal voting. We will hear from legal experts, advocates, and most importantly, New Yorkers who have felt the impact of our arcane and discriminatory voting laws as we engage in a dynamic, educational, and emotional discussion concerning the history of felony disenfranchisement.
As we at Brooklyn Voters Alliance push for transformational voting reform, we are acutely aware that there is always more to learn. Therefore, this event will focus on the laws governing felony disenfranchisement in New York, the discriminatory birth and history of those laws, and their impacts, and how we , as everyday New Yorkers, can advocate for the re-enfranchisement of thousands of our state’s residents.
It all starts with one voice, and that voice can be yours. Join us and get informed on April 17, 2019 at 7pm.
NOTE: This event is free, but please RSVP to help us obtain a head count for security purposes. The event will be located in the Brooklyn Law School Moot Court room.
