Day of Action in Albany

A contingent from WHARR joined Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts and other supporters and activists of all genders, backgrounds an ages for a Day of Action in Albany.

We met with our elected officials to thank them for passing the Reproductive Health Act a d the Comprehensive Contraception Coverage Act if applicable. Although it was a hopeful day, there is much work to be done as the threats to reproductive rights have been ceaseless. In the event of a loss of federal Title X money, we asked the Legislature to add $5 million to the proposed executive appropriation.

We also emphasized the need for comprehensive sex education on a state level for all students. A bill for this is expected to be introduced this session.

Lastly, we asked our elected officials to vote yes to establish a Maternal Mortality Review Board (A. 3276 Joyner / S. 1819 Rivera) and ensure the $8 million of financial support to address this critical issue.

Please call your State Senator and Assembly Member and ask them to do the same!
