Join GOBK’s #NotInOurCity for a vigil condemning a hate crime against a Muslim woman. On December 26, a Muslim woman wearing a hijab was physically attacked and called a “f–king terrorist” by a group of teenage girls at a Panera Bread in Downtown Brooklyn. The woman, Souad Kirama, had asked the girls to calm down as they were behaving raucously inside the restaurant. In response, the girls attacked Kirama. The other patrons in the Panera watched the attack unfold and did nothing to defend Kirama against the girls. An act of hate against one New Yorker is a threat to all New Yorkers.
#NotInOurCity stands up to acts of intolerance against Muslims, Jews, immigrants and others whose vulnerability has increased under the present federal administration.
